William Munny is a reformed old gunslinger who leads a straight and steady life as a doting father and failed pig farmer. The possibility of a large reward tempts him to return to his violent ways, so he and an old friend set off to find the men responsible for disfiguring a prostitute. They come face-to-face with a brutal sheriff instead, which leads to a memorable showdown.
